History

In 1864, the pharmacist Max Zeller developed "Zeller Balm" in his facilities in Romanshorn using an old monastery recipe. Even today, Zeller Balm is still used for the treatment of gastrointestinal symptoms such as bloating and indigestion.

Max Zeller thus laid the foundations for the company Max Zeller Söhne AG, which has grown to become the leading Swiss company in the field of developing and manufacturing herbal medicinal products over the course of time.

From the very beginning, Zeller has focused on scientific and research-based approaches and supported the development of treatments with rational

phytopharmaceuticals, i.e. treatments with herbal medicinal products that have been subjected to thorough research and testing. Zeller cooperates closely with pharmacies and drugstores all over Switzerland on self-medication for mild to moderate illnesses.

With the aim of convincing the medical profession in Switzerland of the benefit of phytopharmaceutical products for effective, well-tolerated, cost-effective and thus optimum initial treatment of diseases, Zeller Medical AG was founded in 1997 as a full subsidiary.

In 1998 we completed construction of a new and highly modern production facility.

In 2004 we took over marketing and sales of Rottapharm-Madaus products for the Swiss market.

The quality of the raw materials plays a decisive role in the production of high-quality phytopharmaceuticals. For this reason, Zeller places great emphasis on the controlled cultivation of the medicinal plants.

In 2008 Zeller took over the majority of shares of VitaPlant AG, which has worked in close cooperation with Zeller as a specialist in the field of seed and crop development for many years.

Today, Zeller is the No. 1 company in the Swiss phytopharmaceutical market and one of the few companies that controls the entire production chain from seed to finished product.
